Simple machines

Cars and bicycles. Forklifts and cranes.  Water faucets and even the flush mechanism on toilets. All of these are “complex machines” made by putting together combinations of 6 simple machines.
Teach students about the lever, wheel and axle, pulley, screw, wedge, and inclined plane.

Simple machines

Simple machines are devices humans use to complete tasks using less effort. The ancient philosophers called them "the five greats".  They are: the inclined plane, the screw, the wheel, the lever and the pulley.
